Sample letter to Senators to open government

I posted the attached letter on my two Senators and Senator McConnell’s websites. If you like this, please feel free to modify and use.

**************************

Senator, it is time to open the government, so please pass the forthcoming two house bills. I would ask you to urge the President to please stop lying about the number of border crossings and his role in causing this shutdown. His divisiveness and fear-mongering have caused this problem. We need fact-based and compassionate debate over DACA and border security and less of whatever the President is talking about.

  1. Note to Readers: The message to GOP leaders in Congress should be we know that you know the President lies more than he does not and he does not deal in good faith. The GOP Senate leadership is trying to forget the President screwed them over hanging them out to dry on the wall vote before Christmas. So, the question is since they know, what are they going to do about it?

Or, if you want to say it this way, “Senator, is this the man you want to spend your dear reputation on?”

  2. Dear Keith,

I love this sort of letter as it gets right to the point. The Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has been hoping to shift the blame for this 2 week shutdown onto Democrats. Good luck with that plan. He is a foolish man if he continues to back the president’s play just to salvage the president’s tough guy image with his base.

    Hugs, Gronda
