Now that the Electoral College has done their job, Republican Senators are falling in line. It has taken much too long for the leaders to begin to say grace over the Joe Biden/ Kamala Harris win. These actions will assure the Biden/ Harris transition, as Senate Majority Leader is encouraging no further boat rocking as he does not want to have to take a vote that would be viewed as against the outgoing president.
Yet, you know statements like these are eating at the craw of the outgoing president. As I was sharing with Erika and Jill in comments, the outgoing president likely believes his own BS about the election being stolen due to the echo chamber he participates in. The outgoing president (let’s call him OP) says or repeats something, the conspiracy theorists seize upon it and give it backstory, the pseudo news people echo and report on it, and then OP hears them talking about it and begins to believe his own story. It is a circular rumor bouncing around the echo chamber.
It has never been a surprise OP is doing what he is doing. It is in his DNA with his shallow ego, so he cannot admit he lost. “I won the election and it was stolen from me,” he thinks and says. But, he sells it even more, saying “I won BY A LOT.” Yet, what is underreported is he staged this fraudulent claim for six months.
What has been a surprise is the level and breadth of sycophancy of Republican leaders, except for a few, who actually called him out with variations of some criticism. OP has purposefully misled Americans, once again, to save how he is perceived. As a result, the MAGA crowd is buying his BS. The fact OP cannot convince judges seems to be mere distraction to them. The fact election officials have recounted and pushed back on OP is irrelevant to them. The fact many of these folks pushing bsck or ruling against the claims of voter fraud are Republicans, with some appointed by OP, means they are disloyal.
Disloyal to whom? The US Constitution? I think not. They are not even being disloyal to OP. They are doing their jobs. They are remembering their oaths. And, some are dealing with OP instigated harassment and death threats. So, OP can cry all he wants to, but just like with Lesley Gore, Johnny is not coming back to her and OP will no longer be president after Joe Biden is sworn in.

I suppose it’s too much to ask that he runs out of steam now? Even an idiot like him can surely see the damage he’s doing to the Country though I don’t doubt he’ll do more by trying to stage an Emergency Powers takeover before the inauguration which Flynn seems to want or just stir up trouble at a rally on inauguration day which he won’t attend being the bad loser he is.

David, OP would be a limbo king as he can go even lower. McConnell made sure OP was apprised of his Biden acknowledgment, as he knows he still needs OP for legislation and to stroke his ego so he will behave.

OP will keep beating his chest and wailing about the “rigged election” for the foreseeable future. I will be floored if he attends the Biden/Harris inauguration, and if he shows, I suspect it will only be because his keepers have drugged him.
Kim, given his nature and past, he will hold a rally that day and claim he is the legimate president. Like today, he would be wrong, but that has never stopped his marketing schtick. Taking this person at his word is a fool’s errand. Keith

Note to Readers: The patience and decorum of the incoming president Joe Biden is a credit to him and his respect for the office of the president and country. OP shows a daily dose of disrespect to his position and disdain for our democracy. It is beyond shameful how he continues to claim he won when he is reminded so often that he did not. Remembering their oath to the Constitution is the only thing saving our country right now. I’m glad they’re holding onto it but still, I’m furious at the years of either supporting OP’s divisive policies or refusing to exercise their duty to provide checks and balances. I know I won’t forget who stood with him.
Laura, they keep singing the praises to OP, but there are two paths forward for him – the person tried to destroy our democracy OR the most corrupt and deceitful president in my lifetime. Putting lisptick on his efforts will not hide these underpinnings. Keith

Multiple sources who spoke with CNN said Trump had made it clear to his staff that he didn’t want to talk about whether he’d attend Biden’s swearing-in ceremony.
People close to him told the outlet they thought it was highly unlikely that he would go.”
This goes back to this echo chamber OP is in. He hears echo feedback and starts to believe his own BS. The ironic part is he staged all of this, so he must have forgotten he did so.
